This 30-ft-tall retaining wall is located in a pristine, rural portion of the county adjacent to City of Boulder Open Space. LORIS worked with Boulder County to create an unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing appearance by incorporating an irregular wall surface with jogs and setbacks for planting beds. The shotcrete soil-nail wall face was then covered with architectural concrete, similar in appearance to the nearby Valmont Butte. This project won the 2002 Award of Excellence for Decorative Concrete from the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Concrete Institute.
