LORIS served as the prime consultant to the City of Loveland for the design of this $3.5 million federally funded (CDOT Region 4) bridge replacement over the Big Thompson River. The new, wider bridge allows safe pedestrian traffic above deck and below on the bike path. LORIS worked closely with other team members – artist Mario Echevarria, Winston Associates – landscape architect, and the Loveland Arts Commission – to create “Patterns in Motion” on the bridge. Roadway improvements included approximately 2,800 feet of re-grading to improve sight distances and drainage.
The project also included roadway improvements and the intersection design of Taft Avenue and 1st Street, where a north-south segment was reconfigured to include four through-lanes and left- and right-turn bays on all four legs.
